Privacy choices

What you can do about your information on Soulmates, and where to do it. Our Privacy policy says what we collect and why.
Delete your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, on the web or in our app:
- Sign in and open You, then Settings (the gear).
- Choose Delete my account. The page says what is deleted and what is kept.
- Press Delete my account.
It is deleted at once and you are signed out everywhere. We email you a receipt. You can join again later with the same email address, as a new member.
If you cannot sign in, write to support@joinsoulmates.com from the email address you signed up with, and we delete it within 30 days.
A Pro subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it first in the App Store or Google Play, under your subscriptions there.
What we delete
- Your sign-in records, which signs you out everywhere.
- Your profile, photos and bio.
- Your verified selfie, the work documents you uploaded and your linked accounts.
- Your plans and Life Partner Preferences.
- Your introductions and requests.
- Any Pro time you have left; a store subscription carries on until you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
What we keep, and why
- That an account was here, with your email address only if we suspended or banned it, so that someone we banned cannot come back.
- Which version of our Terms of use you agreed to, and when.
- Your past connections, marked as ended, so the two of you are never introduced again.
- Messages you exchanged, for as long as a report about them may still need looking into.
- Reports you made, or that were made about you, for members’ safety.
- The store’s record of a Pro subscription, which names you only by a random number, for as long as a dispute with the store may need it.
- Copies in our nightly backups, until each is deleted 30 days after it was made.
Get a copy of your data
In Settings, choose Download my data. We check the request came from you and email a copy of everything we hold about you within 30 days.
See and correct your information
Everything on your profile is yours to change: open You and edit any section, your photos or your Life Partner Preferences. For anything you cannot change there, or to have something corrected or erased, or to object to how we use it, write to us at support@joinsoulmates.com; we answer within two working days.
Choose what others see
- In Settings, Privacy and location sets whether the people you are introduced to see your city or only your area.
- Only people you are introduced to see your profile, and only people you both said yes to see your full name and linked accounts.
- In Settings, Pause my profile stops anyone new from being shown your profile, and you from being shown anyone new, until you resume; the people you already talk to stay.
- Block or report anyone from the menu on their card or in your conversation: you stop seeing each other at once, for good.
Verification and drafted bios
A selfie goes to Amazon Rekognition, a work document to Anthropic’s Claude, and your facts to Claude for a bio draft, each only after you agree to it on its own screen. Nothing is sent unless you start a check or ask for a draft, so to stop, simply do not use it. Without your agreement to Claude, bio drafts come from our own template. To have a selfie or document you uploaded removed, delete your account or write to us.
Emails
In Settings, switch off Emails about requests and messages. Sign-in codes, a receipt for something you asked for, and notices the law requires still reach you.
Permissions in our apps
- The camera is used only while you take a selfie or a photo for your profile.
- Your photo library is opened only when you choose a photo to add.
- Notifications are sent only if you allow them, and you can switch them off in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Location is asked for only after we say why, and only while you use the app; we use an approximate location, never your exact one, and Settings turns it off and deletes it.
- We do not ask for your contacts or your microphone.
On the web, your browser asks before any page can use your camera, and we use nothing more.
If you are unhappy
Write to us first at support@joinsoulmates.com: most problems can be put right that way. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live: in India, the Data Protection Board of India; in the European Union or the United Kingdom, your national supervisory authority.
